Once In A Lifetime.
The Silent P’s creative note/thought of the day:
By far, for me personally, one of the most influential music videos during my youth was Talking Heads “Once In a Lifetime”, from their 1980 album “Remain in Light”. Critics loved the album, but ironically it was the worst selling Talking Heads record ever.
Thanks to my high school art teacher Mr. Sheets (and David Byrne), I knew after seeing this amazing video in art class that it was OK to be an art nerd who loved less popular music and bands that also appreciated “weird”, less popular stuff. It encouraged me to get out of the mainstream and enjoy the open ocean of creativity, where swimming was way more fun.
Maybe someone else who’s yet to see this ground breaking video (for its day) will get inspired as well to be comfortable to get a little weird.
